Enabling completion certificates in grading settings, certificate generation on completion, downloading certificates for learners

Certificates

Paid workspaces can let learners download a personalized PDF certificate after completing a lesson or course.

Enabling a certificate

  1. Open the lesson or course editor.

  2. Select Settings in the top toolbar.

  3. Open Certificate.

  4. Turn on Include Certificate.

Certificates are unavailable on the Free plan, in Static SCORM or web exports, and while authoring through an integrated session that handles certification separately.

Certificate design

After enabling certificates, choose a design:

  • Default uses Mindsmith’s built-in certificate layout and your configured content logo.

  • External lets you upload a custom background image for the certificate.

Use the preview in Settings to check the result. You can also turn Certificate Verification on or off. When it is on, the certificate includes a verification link and QR code.

Deciding when a learner earns it

Certificate eligibility follows the completion rules in Settings → Grading. Depending on your setup, those rules can include:

  • A passing percentage

  • Passing the assessment

  • Viewing all required content

  • Completing required interactive tiles

Review those settings before sharing the content so the certificate is awarded at the right point.

Learner download

After a learner passes and meets the completion criteria, the completion screen shows that their certificate is ready. The learner selects Download, enters a valid name and email address, and downloads the PDF.

The certificate includes the learner’s name and the lesson or course title. When verification is enabled, it also includes the certificate’s verification information.

Learners can return to the lesson options menu to download an earned certificate again. Authors can also download an eligible learner’s certificate from that learner’s analytics detail.
