Mindsmith analytics show how learners use your lessons and courses. You can use the results to report to stakeholders, measure ROI, or find parts of the learner experience that need work.
Where to find analytics
To access analytics for any lesson or course:
Open the content in your workspace.
Click the Analytics button in the top menu toolbar.
You’ll see a live snapshot of learner performance and engagement.
Note: Analytics requires a paid plan. On the Free plan, the Analytics view is unavailable.
What’s included
Your data is split into two main views: the Results tab and the Engagement tab.
Results tab metrics
The Results tab gives you a high-level overview of overall viewer performance:
Unique viewers: Track how many people accessed the content, including a chart of views over the last week.
Starts and completions: Measure how far learners progress and view your overall completion rate.
Average score: See overall performance across all scored assessment tiles.
Engagement by content tile
The Engagement tab helps you understand exactly how learners move through your content tiles:
Percent viewed: Spot where learners drop off in the lesson.
Average time: Identify which tiles capture the most attention.
Question-level insights: Click into interactive tiles to expand them. You can review answer distributions, common wrong answers, short answer responses, and learner feedback ratings.
Conversation analytics
Conversation tiles include additional analytics so you can see how learners progress through multi-attempt practice.
Review first-attempt performance and improvement after retries across each agenda item.
Spot where learners are getting stuck before they successfully complete the conversation.
Open learner-level conversation details to review transcripts, audio, grading, and attempt history.

Collecting learner names and emails
Learners are anonymous by default. Unless you turn on collection, the learner table and the CSV export will show activity without names or email addresses.
To identify your learners, enable collection before you share the lesson:
Open the lesson's Settings (the cog icon in the top-right toolbar).
Go to the Grading tab.
Under Reporting, turn on either or both:
Collect Names from Learners: learners must enter a name before they can view the lesson.
Collect Email from Learners: learners must enter an email before they can view the lesson.
Both toggles are off by default, and they only apply going forward. Learners who already went through the lesson anonymously will not have names or emails added retroactively, so turn these on before you distribute your content.
Delivering through an LMS? Turn on Enhanced SCORM Integration in that same Reporting section instead. When the LMS provides the learner's identity, Mindsmith can associate it with analytics without asking the learner to enter it manually.
Tip: To apply these settings to every new lesson and course you create, set them once under Organization Settings → Default Content Settings → Grading rather than lesson by lesson.
Learner-level data
At the bottom of the Results tab, you can view a table of individual learners.
Select a learner's row to open their individual results:
Confirm their specific score, total attempts, and time to completion.
Review exactly how they responded to specific question tiles to support coaching conversations.
Click Download Certificate to save a PDF copy of their completion certificate (if certificates are enabled in your settings).
Exporting results
Note: Exporting analytics data requires a Business or Enterprise plan.
You can download the data to share with stakeholders, archive it for compliance, or track results over time. In the top right corner of the analytics window, you can:
Click Export PDF to create a formatted report for the Results tab, the Engagement tab, or a specific learner.
Click Export CSV (available from the Results tab) to download a spreadsheet containing learner names, emails, best scores, and attempt counts.
