The learner experience
Mindsmith lessons and courses adapt to desktop and mobile screens. The exact controls a learner sees depend on the author’s navigation, grading, narration, language, and delivery settings.

Moving through content
Learners move between pages with the Back and Continue buttons. If the current page still has required content, Continue reads Complete content first, and the first unfinished tile is highlighted.
Navigation Freedom sets how learners can move:
Restricted (default): learners go through pages in order. They must finish each page before moving on.
Open: learners can go back to any page or jump ahead from the navigation sidebar. If they reach the end with unfinished content, a message points them to it.
Other settings that affect moving forward:
Require Interactives: learners must use every interactive tile in the lesson, such as flashcards, accordions and hot buttons.
Video must be completed (Video tile setting): the video must be watched to the end before the tile counts as complete.
Navigation sidebar
The sidebar shows the lesson or course outline and the learner's progress. On large screens, authors can choose whether it starts open. On smaller screens it opens as an overlay.
Depending on the content and settings, the sidebar can also include:

The Options menu
The Options menu shows only the actions that apply to the current launch:
Enter Fullscreen / Exit Fullscreen
Play audio narration / Pause audio narration
Download Certificate, after the learner passes (see below)
Resend Completion Event, for completed SCORM lessons
Report Bug and Report Abuse or Phishing
Restart Lesson or Restart Course, when the author allows restarts. Learners are asked to confirm, because restarting resets their progress.
Narration
When a page has narration, learners can play or pause it, follow its progress, change the playback speed and open the narration text.
If Narration Autoplay is on, narration starts on its own when the browser allows it. If the browser blocks audio that hasn't been started by a click, the learner sees Press to control narration and starts playback themselves.
Video and audio
Video and audio tiles can offer a Transcript, captions and playback speed controls, depending on the media and the author's settings.
Questions, scores, and retries
Question tile feedback depends on the tile’s author settings. A question may show correctness and feedback immediately, wait until the page or assessment is submitted, or remain ungraded.
Lesson settings determine the passing percentage, the number of question retries, which section is scored, and whether completion also requires viewing the content. A Conversation or branching scenario can contribute its own graded result when configured to do so.
Completion and certificates
When the learner meets the completion criteria, Mindsmith can show a completion dialog with their Result (Passed or Failed) and Score. If they didn't pass and restarts are allowed, the dialog offers Restart Lesson. Authors can turn this dialog off with the Completion Dialog setting.
When certificates are on and the learner passes, they can download a certificate from the completion dialog or the Options menu. The learner enters their name to generate the PDF. In Preview, authors see a sample certificate instead of a download. Certificates aren't available in static SCORM or web exports.
LMS reporting
For SCORM launches, Mindsmith sends progress, score and completion to the LMS. LMS Reporting Mode decides whether the LMS gets Passed/Failed/Incomplete or Complete/Incomplete.
