You can breathe new life into your legacy training content by importing existing SCORM packages directly into Mindsmith. This process converts your static SCORM files into native, editable Mindsmith courses and lessons, allowing you to easily update and maintain your learning materials.
Supported Authoring Tools
Mindsmith currently supports importing SCORM .zip packages exported from the following platforms:
Articulate Rise
EasyGenerator
Inkling
If you attempt to upload a SCORM package from an unsupported platform, the system will cancel the upload and display an "Unsupported authoring tool" error.
How to Import a SCORM Package
You can upload a SCORM package whenever you create new content.
From your dashboard or project, click the button to generate a new lesson or course.
In the creation menu, locate the file upload area with the cloud icon.
Drag and drop your SCORM
.zipfile directly into the upload box.Alternatively, click the Browse files button or the Asset button (paperclip icon) to select the file from your computer.
Wait for the progress bar to complete.
Once processing is finished, Mindsmith will automatically redirect you to your newly created lesson or course.
How the Conversion Works
Mindsmith does not simply embed your SCORM file; it fully rebuilds the content natively.
During the import process, Mindsmith extracts your text, layouts, and media, converting them into native Mindsmith tiles. You will see your content populated as text tiles, image tiles, and video tiles. Because the content is native, you can easily type new information, swap out images, or ask the Mindsmith Agent to rewrite specific sections.
Additionally, embedded media assets from your original SCORM file are automatically saved to your Mindsmith workspace. If your original Articulate Rise or EasyGenerator package contained multiple languages, Mindsmith will automatically detect them and generate translated versions of your course alongside the primary language.
Providing Feedback and Reimporting
Because third-party authoring tools export SCORM files in highly variable ways, your imported content may occasionally require minor formatting adjustments.
To help improve this process, a feedback widget will appear in the top right corner of your screen immediately after a SCORM package finishes importing.
Rate the Import: Click the Like (thumbs up) or Dislike (thumbs down) buttons to tell us how the conversion performed.
Leave Comments: If you click Dislike, a text box will appear. You can type specific feedback about missing content or formatting issues.
Download the Original: Click View original SCORM to download your source
.zipfile. This is useful if you need to double-check what was in the original package.Reimport Content: If your course failed to import correctly, click the Reimport Course button at the bottom of the widget. This will place the course back into the processing queue and attempt the conversion again.
