The Mindsmith Agent is available from the bar at the bottom of Mindsmith authoring screens. Use it to create or revise content, work from reference material, and open the settings or reports relevant to what you are doing.
Open the Mindsmith Agent
Open a lesson, course, Conversation, or supported video authoring screen, then select the prompt bar at the bottom. The expanded panel shows the current conversation and its controls.
The controls available in the composer depend on the type of content you are editing. They can include:
Add resource: Upload a reference file or reuse a resource already attached to the lesson.
Media library: Reference an organization media asset.
Reference lesson: Give the Agent another lesson as context.
Skills: Apply a built-in or custom skill to the next request.
Dictation: Record a spoken prompt and convert it to text before sending.
Mode: Choose an available Agent mode and related preferences.
You can also type @ in the composer to find available skills, resources, lessons, media, and actions.
Give the Agent useful context
Describe the outcome you want and identify the scope of the change. For example, say whether the request applies to a selected tile, the current page, or the whole lesson.
When you select a tile or page before opening the Agent, the composer shows that selection as context. You can remove a context chip before sending if it is not relevant. Attach only the reference material needed for the current request.
The Agent may ask follow-up questions when important details are missing. Answer them in the panel, or dismiss the question when you no longer want to continue that request.
Create and edit content
You can ask the Agent to:
Rewrite, shorten, expand, or restructure existing lesson content.
Add pages and tiles for a topic or learning objective.
Build or revise a storyboard before generating the lesson.
Create questions, interactions, branching scenarios, Conversations, and supported video content.
Update lesson objectives, narration, themes, and accessibility details when those tools are available in the current authoring screen.
Review generated changes in the editor. A successful Agent edit creates a checkpoint that can be used to return to the state before that edit. The bottom bar also exposes undo and redo controls while the conversation is collapsed.
Open settings and reports
The Agent can open supported Mindsmith panels when you ask to see or configure them. In a lesson this includes panels such as:
Analytics
Lesson settings
Sharing
Translation
Version history
Theme, objectives, and accessibility
It can also summarize available lesson analytics, including views, completions, scores, and tile-level engagement. The dedicated analytics and version-history panels remain the place to inspect or manage their full records.
Manage conversations
Use the conversation menu at the top of the expanded panel to reopen a saved Agent conversation. Select New Chat to stop the current run, clear the panel, and begin a separate conversation.
Starting a new chat is useful when you switch to an unrelated task or reference set. It keeps the new request from inheriting context that no longer applies.
Stop or resume work
While the Agent is working, use the stop button in the composer to interrupt the current run. Some multi-step work can be resumed from the status shown in the conversation. If a request produced a checkpoint, use its restore action when you want to discard the resulting lesson changes.
