Turn a video into an interactive simulation
The Mindsmith Agent’s Video Simulation skill turns a video into an interactive Experience tile. It is useful for software practice, guided walkthroughs, and knowledge videos that benefit from checks between short segments.
Create a video simulation
Open the Mindsmith Agent in a lesson.
Attach the source video.
Open Skills and choose Video Simulation, or ask the Agent to turn the video into an interactive simulation.
If the video is a screen recording, choose Instructional or Follow-along when asked.
Review the generated Experience tile in the flow editor.
The Agent uses the video and its transcript to identify meaningful segments. The number and length of steps depend on the source and your instructions.
Screen-recording formats
Instructional simulations replace the passive video with a sequence of screenshots. Each step asks the learner to find or select an interface element through an Explore node.
Follow-along simulations alternate between a short video demonstration and an Explore node where the learner practices the action on a screenshot.
For accurate hotspots, tell the Agent exactly which interface element matters and describe its label, icon, color, nearby elements, and position.
Knowledge-video format
For lectures, presentations, and talking-head training, the Agent can split the source into short video segments followed by Choice nodes. Incorrect choices can route to feedback before the learner rejoins the main path.
Review the generated flow
Open the Experience tile and verify:
Video trim points begin and end at sensible moments
Screenshots clearly show the target interface state
Explore-node hotspots align with the intended controls
Questions assess the segment that just played
Every choice and hotspot routes forward as intended
The final node summarizes the activity and completes the experience
You can move, add, remove, and reconnect nodes in the flow editor or ask the Mindsmith Agent to revise them.
Nodes used in video simulations
Video nodes play a trimmed portion of the source video.
Explore nodes show a screenshot with invisible hotspots, highlighted targets, or point tooltips.
Choice nodes ask a question, provide feedback, or finish the activity.
